FAQ
What's good about WebP?+
At the same quality, WebP files are about 25–35% smaller than JPG, so they're widely used for blogs, online stores and websites.
WebP can also hold transparent backgrounds.
My WebP photo won't open or upload.+
Older programs and many government and exam sites don't accept WebP.
Add the photo, change the format to JPG and save.
Can I make a WebP at a specific file size?+
Yes.
Turn on 'File size' and enter the size you want, and it's saved at the highest quality that fits.
Are my photos stored on a server?+
No.
Your photos are never sent over the internet.
They're processed only inside the browser you're using right now, and when you close the page, both the originals and the results are cleared from your device's memory.
Is information like the photo's location passed along too?+
Result files don't include EXIF metadata such as location or device info.
The rotation info is applied first so your photo doesn't end up sideways, and then it's removed.
