FAQ
How does it change only the background?+
A recognition model finds the person and their hair, the edges are refined to follow the outlines in the photo, and everything else is painted white.
Edge colors are cleaned up too, so none of the original background shows at the tips of the hair.
All of this happens only on this device.
Can I use it for a passport photo?+
Passport photos usually need a white background.
Change the background to white and choose the 'Passport / ID 35×45mm' spec to fit the size and face position too.
There are other requirements like shadows, lighting and expression, so check your country's official guidance before applying.
The hair edges look cut off.+
If the background is close to your hair color, or you have lots of flyaway hairs, the edges can look a bit off.
For the cleanest result, take the photo in front of a plain wall that contrasts with your hair.
Are my photos stored on a server?+
No.
Your photos are never sent over the internet.
They're processed only inside the browser you're using right now, and when you close the page, both the originals and the results are cleared from your device's memory.
Is information like the photo's location passed along too?+
Result files don't include EXIF metadata such as location or device info.
The rotation info is applied first so your photo doesn't end up sideways, and then it's removed.
