FAQ

What are the U.S. visa photo requirements?+

According to U.S.
Department of State guidance (checked 2026-10-21), the photo must be a 2×2 inch square, 600–1200px, JPEG up to 240KB.
Byte Bakery makes it 600×600px, up to 240KB.
Requirements can change, so check the official guidance before submitting.

Can I use my 35×45mm passport photo as is?+

No.
U.S.
visa photos are a 2×2 inch square with different head size rules, so a 35×45mm passport photo can't be used as is.
If the original has enough room around you, you can use 'Adjust position' to crop it to a square.
Photos with glasses are not accepted.

Does it also fix the face size and background color?+

The face is found automatically, and the photo is cropped so the head height (top of head to chin) and position match the spec.
Face detection also happens only on this device.
Requirements like a white background, looking straight at the camera and being taken within the last 6 months have to be met by the original photo, so please use a photo taken for ID purposes.

Are my photos stored on a server?+

No.
Your photos are never sent over the internet.
They're processed only inside the browser you're using right now, and when you close the page, both the originals and the results are cleared from your device's memory.

Is information like the photo's location passed along too?+

Result files don't include EXIF metadata such as location or device info.
The rotation info is applied first so your photo doesn't end up sideways, and then it's removed.
