FAQ

Won't the quality drop a lot?+

We look for the highest quality that fits the size limit.
Only when lowering quality isn't enough do we reduce the resolution a little.
Small photos like ID photos usually fit under 200KB with no visible difference.

The result says 199KB, but my computer shows a different size.+

Some sites count 1KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024 bytes.
Byte Bakery uses the stricter one (1,000 bytes), so your file passes either way.

Does it work with iPhone photos (HEIC)?+

Yes.
Add a HEIC file and it's converted to JPG and fitted to the size limit in one go.

Are my photos stored on a server?+

No.
Your photos are never sent over the internet.
They're processed only inside the browser you're using right now, and when you close the page, both the originals and the results are cleared from your device's memory.

Is information like the photo's location passed along too?+

Result files don't include EXIF metadata such as location or device info.
The rotation info is applied first so your photo doesn't end up sideways, and then it's removed.
